Arsenal are reportedly keen to bring Donyell Malen back to the Emirates three years after allowing the striker to join PSV Eindhoven.
Malen, 21, has developed into one of the most promising youngsters in European football at PSV, scoring 21 goals in his last 31 appearances for the Dutch outfit.
Nevertheless, the young forward was previously on Arsenal’s books before being sold to PSV fort £540,000 in 2017.
He spent two years in the club’s youth ranks after joining from Ajax’s Under-17s, but Gunners chiefs were clearly unconvinced and therefore decided to let him leave on a permanent basis.
According to Dutch outlet Soccernews, however, Arsenal are now open to re-signing Malen following his rapid rise at PSV.
It is believed the Netherlands international has gained plenty of admirers in European football – and Mikel Arteta’s side are one of them.
A knee injury scupper his chances of a move in the latest transfer window, but he has hit the ground running this season with five goals in his first seven games.
If he continues to score goals at the same rate, Malen is bound to be the subject of serious interest when the winter window opens at the turn of the year.
Juventus are also said to have held “warm contacts” with his agent Mino Raiola over the summer, meaning Arsenal could face competition for his signature.
Malen has racked up a total of 77 appearances in his time at PSV, scoring 32 goals and winning the Eredivisie title in 2017/18.
He has also received five caps for Netherlands, scoring on his international debut against Germany in September 2019.
The youngster could prove the perfect successor for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is 10 years his senior.
